Five-Minute Friday: {Our Ordinary Love}

October sky Texas, Austin Texas, clouds, skies, October in Texas, Autumn skies

Every Friday, a group of ladies spends 5 minutes writing on a new topic. This fun assignment – created by Lisa Jo Baker – helps us write freely & not worry about our imperfections or format. I love it! This was my first “Five-Minute Friday” and I hope not my last. A small confession: I may have ran a couple minutes over. Forgive me… & enjoy!

~~~
Ordinary.
Waking up with the sunrise. Smelling coffee in the air. Cuddling up to my sweet husband in the early morning light. Attacking him with kisses.
This is our ordinary, every day, typical morning time together.
Three years ago, this was the furthest picture from my mind – a snapshot stolen from my far-out, wildest dreams.
When did THIS – life with him – become my ordinary?
And dare I ever get used to this kind of love, this kind of man, this kind of morning?
I hope with my whole heart I don’t begin to consider my “new ordinary” anything but extraordinary. I want to appreciate every moment, every sunrise (no matter how unwelcome!), every single day given to me with this amazing man I call my husband!
Today was his off day and a new ordinary… talking with an old friend, family time with pumpkin coffee & my in-laws, a run with our dog (& audio Bible), a fun hike around the ranch, deep conversation, and frisbees thrown in the field.
Is this really my life? God, I pray I never stop appreciating the daily gifts You’ve given me. I pray I never give into the restlessness that tries to threaten my contentment.
Thank You, Lord, for this sweet ordinary love.
    Hi Summer,
    Stopping in from the FMF linky party. Thanks for sharing a snapshot of your blessed and “ordinary” life. 🙂 btw ~ I sometimes go over the five minutes by a smidge or do a really quick edit. So far the blog police haven’t stopped by my place in bloggy land. So I’m pretty sure you’re ok, too. Have a blessed weekend!
    Hello Summer! What is soooo beautiful about your message is that everything you said was so real. At times I would look at certain aspects of my life and think them too good to be true, not realizing that each moment is as real as it comes. I look at my husband and am smitten and immediately thank God. It is such a great feeling to have a great life partner. I thank God when we wake up. It is extraordinary! Have a great weekend.. Hope you guys have great plans!
    This is such a lovely post. “I hope with my whole heart I don’t begin to consider my “new ordinary” anything but extraordinary”…what an awesome statement! My perspective on “ordinary” took a similar twist as I began to look on daily things with new eyes. You added a bit to my thoughts with your post. Thanks.
