Dead Dreams?

prayer-sunset

We’ve all experienced it: the energizing burst of excitement when we envision our goals, our dreams, that “thing” that sets our heart in fast-forward!

Then…..

Waiting for it.

And waiting.  And time lapses and we let it go or try to make it smaller/ more obtainable (“Maybe I won’t be heavyweight boxing champ of the world; maybe just of the state of Texas.  Or my city!”).

But our heart betrays us.  The bigger dream still beckons.

I know!!!!  Me too, I’ve been there.  The funniest thing though?  I’m now beginning to live my dream. I have to confess that I never never never never REALLY thought my dream would unfold.  I thought it would always be out-of-reach.

Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Church (Charlotte, NC) wrote an excellent ditty on this subject.  Delayed dreams are painful.  Old Solly says “Hope deferred makes the heart sick” in Proverbs.  Sick at heart.  Yep – I’ve been there and betting you have too.

Check out Furtick’s great words on this hard topic.  It is hard because many people have given up on dreams that we just don’t think will ever ever ever ever ever happen.

Until they do.

If it can (begin) to happen for me, it absolutely can happen for you.  Cheers.

Sometimes God will prevent us from a certain goal at a time that does not coincide with His will. It’s not that we’re not doing what’s right. It’s just that we’re not doing it with the right timing.

He’s not saying not ever. He’s just saying not now.

Maybe it’s because we’re not yet equipped for it.
Maybe it’s because the eventual environment God is going to have us in isn’t fully developed yet.

Whatever the reason, you’re not ready for it. Or it’s not ready for you.  You always have to remember: what you think is good timing is not always God’s timing.
